Apple

Postby Dave Smith » Fri May 11, 2018 5:56 pm

During the week we have found at least 6 phone call (arrive during the day) message supposedly from Apple saying our
Apple accounts have been compromised. Has anyone else received this? Naturally they want us to
phone them at a number they provide.

I ignore actual phone calls. I've had a few messages pop up on my computer screen since I got my Mac. I never went to the phone # they give. I have called the number I have for Apple Support and talked to them. The first time, they reassured me it was not them and to ignore it. Didn't seem to care. The second time I felt the need to call Apple Support it came in an email. Apple came onto my machine and looked over the email I had been sent. They told me that even tho it looks like them, there were several ways I could tell it was not them Then they showed me how to report it to them so they could deal with it.
Recently I got pop ups 3 times giving me the message you are talking about. I ignored them and they have gone away, for now. I won't respond to any thing that doesn't come to me in an email directly from Apple anymore. And I know how to identify the Apple email.
Hope

Those calls are for 99.9999% a scam.
Companies like Apple and Microsoft don't call their customers.

The want to get into your computer and are after your money.
