Windows 10 again

Post by Dave Smith » Tue Feb 20, 2018 8:32 pm

I have for months not been able to get onto Shop built.
I several times requested a new pass word and it would not work.
I was typing the new password in and it would not accept it.
I thought I would try one more time before contacting Gerrit.
I tried first typing the password in. It would not accept it.
Then I thought I would cut and paste it in. Bingo, it worked.
I was sure I had not miss typed it so I opened Open Office
and cut and pasted it in.
Then under it I typed it in and enlarged both to be able to see it clearly.
The typed one was correct but.
Some of the letters are different, specifically the L and the j both in
small case and caps.
Niether here or in Shop built it will not remember me I have to
put my user name and password in every time I sign on.
I don't mind that.
Strange yes

Also,
While I was typing this my Lenovo computer shut down and went into
a restart. And a update was installed. I did not get any kind of a notice of this.
I can not find any way to turn off automatic updates.
This has happened 3 times to me.
My first computer was Windows 98 and it was better than this Windows 10

That's how passwords work. In passwords K is not the same as k. So when you have a capital letter in a password you have to enter it as a capital, a small case letter has to be entered as a small case letter.

That has to do with cookies. If you go ahead and delete the cookies for Newbies and Shopbuilt in your internet browser, your login will be remembered. Tell me which browser you use (Firefox, Chrome, Edge) and I'll tell you exactly how to delete the cookies so this one will be solved.

Do you still have problems to get int Shopbuilt? Let me know and I'll fix that for you.

That's Windows 10 (another reason I don't like it a bit). You can't turn off automatic updates. Microsoft decides what is good for you.

My Lenovo computer shows a different letter J
than yore's. The cap has the bar on the top
and the small case has the dot above.
J j

Different computers use different fonts... It can f.i. be confusing to see the difference between a lower case L and a caps i (l and I).

The password that is automatically generated by a forum is completely random. The best thing to do is to use it once and as soon as you're logged in change it for a password of our choice.

Meanwhile I saw you could post on Shopbuilt so I guess things are working again for you, right?
