Stream tuner Changes?

Postby Dieselrider » Fri Oct 03, 2008 12:37 pm

Have they been making changes to stream tuner? Or, perhaps some of the sites that were tied with them have opted out? I used to search and connect to last fm streams right through ST and now I see that is no longer an option. What's up with that? Thanks

I see the same thing, sort of, with live 365 and shoutcast on stream tuner. the button is still there but no channels listed and the search feature turns up nothing.

I don't have it downloaded so I can try but I just went to the Streamtuner download site. The last version was in 2004. This tells me the project is either dead or the last release is solid enough to not need updating.

Maybe a fresh download and install of the package? Just guessing here.

I did a reinstall before I posted to see if I had inadvertently affected something, nothing different there. I can still get the classical guitar from last fm on the web and open another browser window if I want to continue listening while surfing but, it was way more convenient to use it through STuner when it was available. I guess there is no big deal, I was just wondering what the change was all about. The other sites like google, don't offer a search feature. And, even in the online site, everything classical is just that classical all lumped together. No way tho search for classical guitar on it's own. Maybe last fm didn't feel that Stuner was getting enough traffic for them? Dunno. Thanks SE

The good people over on the Wepis Lovers forums have given me some great info for streaming. I have only tried this so far with Shoutcast but, it may work with others. In Shoutcast, after you find a station you want to save, right click on the "tune in" Tag and then choose "save as" Put the file into your music file and name it whatever .pls. Then any time you click on that file it will open the stream and start playing. This works with Amarock, not sure about any others but, most linux comes with amarock installed, I think.
