It was about this time an old friend from Georgia called me up to listen to a song he was working on.It was Billy Swan. I said.Yeah ,It sounds like it may do just fine. You could speed it up a bit and do it in C chord.Get a couple of Fender Strats,A good drummer and maybe some horns or a keyboard. When you get it ready .There is a welder from Texas here that has a dog that listens to songs to indicate a hit from a miss. Call me back when you get it down to where it can be heard in mixed company. Here it is >> {Ways of a woman} --> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12470786/ways%2 ... 0woman.mp3

Well.I was just sitting here and heard a knock on my door and there stood Elvis.I says.Hey.I thought you bought the farm back in 76 .He said.Naw.I just got tired of the good life and spotlights so I just dropped out.I like being just an ordinary person.I said.Yeah,I heard that!Anyway.Try this Nady mic out .See if you think I should have bought that sixty dollar one.So off he goes. {Blue Christmas} >>> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12470786/blue%20christmas.mp3

In the sixties I went to high school here in La. There was an air base here with nuclear armed B 47s .They were always flying in and out night and day.We figured there would be a nuclear war with Russia. So did the pilots at the base. They were our friends and the Air Force men helped us build hot rods. They had the best equipment there at the base. Some good paint and painters too.I had a 55 Chevy with a truck transmission with compound low. Just about all the school boys build fast cars in school. We used to race. Some had motorcycles. Then we went to those races,.We all acted kinda crazy and figured we wont be here in the seventies so a lot of people were dead before Vietnam came along.Mostly cars or motorbikes and beer mixed was involved. We went to dances or to the drive ins. We had a good time. I went by the graveyard to see some of the old friends. Some made it to Vietnam. But there was a number of them there. Some good ole girls went with them too. So this song is from the graveyard. {{SIXTY}} >> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12470786/SIXTY.mp3

Then one day I was in my little green boat.Me and my dog often to travel the bayou and go all the way up to the lake where the people have the big mansions on the edge of the water. At one big fancy house I looked over there and sitting in the gazebo was Elvis and Desire. He was making music for her.I didn't hear it all because all this was such a strange thing for me to discover that the pretty French girl had met Elvis who came by the bayou to visit every few years since he got out of the army.Nobody knew of this except me.So I guessed he took a liking to Desire and all the strange things became to known to me. Anyway.I moved back to Texas a few years. But I ended right back here again by fate. I decided that you can't run away from the past so you just make the best of the cards you are dealt. Anyway.Elvis comes by here and we just pretend everything is normal.. It was during this time frame that I decided to not be a people.>>> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12470786/elvis.mp3 <<I don't know if he ever finished that song.

Strange things happen here on the Road of Roses. They always have and always will I guess. You never know who may show up around here.A lot of happy people live here. They hope it stays that way so they don't advertize the place.A lot of people came here to escape something.Mostly to escape change. They know that change is not always better. Politicians may offer change but we want improvements. It is not possible to add complications to improve simplicity. {Road of roses} >> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12470786/road%2 ... es%20k.mp3

George Jones came back by.He goes fishing on the bayou and comes by for a visit when he does.George is from a place in the Piney woods nearby where I came from. We know some of the same people. Anyhow. I asked him to do a song on my computer without the band and all the stuff they have in recoding studios.Like the lyrics that run across a screen so they are easy to see. It was then I learned that George forgets words to his own songs. Those big dollar studios make it a lot easier to make music. Besides they have a lot of musicians around to fill in the gaps. But I like real things.Like real home made stuff. Not canned stuff from a factory.>> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12470786/HE%20STOPPED.mp3 (This might not come out of the oven until tomorrow)

I used to live in Washington DC for awhile.Often on sundays I would go to the Vietnam wall.It is a tall granite wall that down under the level of the ground and back up at the other end.People I knew have names on the wall. Then there is a monument for other U.S.military of other wars. There was a sound in my mind. It was kind of like this {AMERICA} > http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12470786/america.mp3
