looking for an MP3 player

Postby Gerrit » Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:49 am

We're looking for an MP3 player - Patria wants one.

The last time I bought a portable audio device was ages ago - a walkman for compact cassettes - so I'm gonna need some help.

We're looking for a player that also has a FM receiver; budget is around 50 bucks.

Recommendations please!

Save your money...Buy the cheapest you can get...For $50, you can get 3-4...

BTW

It is way more important to me to have buds that fit my ears...

I pay all of $6 for the ones that fit me best, and I usually just toss the phones that come with the players in a drawer...

I have this one:

It has 8 gig of memory and works great. I currently have over 1000 songs on it and it's only half full. Never tried the radio function. I just use it to play my MP3s.

That's for Patria to decide. We have some ear buds and headphones laying around. If nothing suits her she'll buy something that will. :)

Looks nice George but we decided to start with the one that SE recommended. If she likes to walk around with the player we can always buy something with more memory later, right?

I went 'cheap' on the first player I bought...It was a 1gb with no radio...I did that because I had seen my Sister and her kids go through 5 (I kid you not) iPod Shuffles in one year...

There is no way I can justify that kind of outlay for something that does the same as a <$20 machine...

If there was a difference in audio fidelity, that would be another story, but as the sound is dependent on the ear-phones, I do not care if my player has all the bells and whistles (or a brand name), as long as it plays, and can take rechargeable AAA batteries...

BTW...I still have that original cheapy...I think I paid $19 for it at Staples, and it is still going...

I do now carry 2 RCA 'Pearl' models...One was a gift and had a micro SD slot for expanding memory, and the other is one I also paid less than $20 for that has an FM tuner...Both work well, and do not break the bank...

The radio works!

Now I'm selecting a handful of tunes from our thousands of music files.

Thanks Salmoneye! :smt028

Oh and of course, Papi. :smt045
